Art for the things you love

The first version of Dryphter Designs was open for about six months. It worked. People could buy from it. But every time I looked at it I saw what I'd do differently: an outline that wasn't clean, a colour that didn't sit right on the fabric, a listing I wouldn't have bought from myself. That's the curse of being a perfectionist. Most people would have patched it. I took the whole thing down instead.

I spent the next four weeks rebuilding. I redesigned every piece of art, chose the Comfort Colors 1717 (a 6.1 oz garment-dyed, 100% ring-spun cotton tee) as the one blank everything prints on, and rebuilt the software I use to research, design and prepare each piece, so design 35 gets the same care as design 1. It cost me every listing I had and the little momentum that came with them. I'd do it again. If you're spending your money on something from me, it should be something I'm proud to put my name on.

I had done sales, hospitality, warehouses and construction sites, and I had never once been happy as an employee. I found print-on-demand through a YouTube interview and I was sold — then I looked at what it costs to run. Every tool was a monthly subscription, and I had no money spare. The way out was right there and I could not afford to start it. Then I noticed the obvious thing: I build websites and apps. So instead of renting anyone's tools, I spent months writing my own in Python — software that researches what a community already loves, turns that into design ideas, produces the artwork and gets it ready to sell. The first version of Dryphter Designs ran on it for about six months. It worked. People could buy from it. But every time I looked at it I saw what I would do differently, and I could not keep selling something I had already outgrown. So I took the whole thing down, spent four weeks redrawing every piece of art, put all of it on one blank I chose on purpose, and rebuilt the system behind it so design 35 gets the same care as design 1. It cost me every listing I had. I would do it again.

Today I study what each community loves. Then I make one collection at a time. The first is Botanical: cottagecore, stained glass and gothic plant art. I research what each community loves, then use AI image tools and software I built to create the artwork. I direct every design, review each one by eye, and reject anything that isn't right.
